What you see here is a spider (or radar) chart. We are comparing the OEM bike vs different Aurora Layouts that we have in our range. There are six areas of interest.
1. Ergonomics. This is your instrument layout. Are they in a better position? Easier to see? Higher is better.
2. Fuel Capacity. Straight forward. Higher means more fuel!
3. Protection. This is protection from the elements and is based on our own tests and feedback from customers. The highr the protection, the higher the number.
4. Lights. OEM lights are fully legal. In our kits not only you upgrade the lights, but you can install full off-road LED units for max performance.
5.Weight. That's a necessary evil. We remove and we add parts on the bikes and the net effect is sometimes a heavier bike, or in the case of our Superlight kit a lighter bike.
6. Racing. Get ready to race! Higher is better.

Design
Why keep adding parts when you can simply design a new one? In collaboration with Dosmoto Design we brought to life what we believe is the best Rally Lite kit for the 701. The 701Lite comes with patent pending side panels that replace the OEM shrouds offering an aesthetically pleasing result, while optimizing the aerodynamics!
The kit is fully compatible with the Super 701 kit (tanks, seat, skid plate, exhaust etc.) so that you can upgrade at a later stage to the full Rally Replica. The navigation tower has been proven in races such as Morocco desert challenge (and winning twice, with Joakim Lundby >450 class in 2018), Albania Rally (Roman Bale winning the >450 class in 2020), Serres Rally and many more. All that without any reported failures on any of the kits sold since 2016.

Manufacturing
The 701 Lite kit is a game changer. Designed in 2016, at the time it was the first kit in the market to have full side panels that replace the OEM panels and match the rally lines of the bike. The unique multi material navigation tower combines two alloys of aluminum, stainless steel and polymers to allow the tower to have maximum stiffness, yet be light. All the parts are painted with special anti-corrosion powder coating paint and even if the parts get scratched along the way, they will never rust as we use only AISI304 stainless steel. The Aluminum is chosen so that it has maximum fatigue life yet, due it hardness it can be bent back to shape without cracking, making it ideal for this application.
The legendary head clamp!
The most integral part. Should this part fail, regardless of how good the rest of the structure is, it will crumble on the ground taking with it all the electrics of the bike. This is the foundation of the kit. Since 2016 Aurora Rally Equipment is proud to have zero head clamp failures in all the environments and riding conditions. Racing, Traveling, Commuting. Our data shows that there is no difference in racing and traveling as far as the damage that one can be inflicted onto these parts. To the contrary, there is substancial proof that amateur riders, sometimes, cause more harm to the equipment than the pro riders. The clamp is machined out a solid block of aluminium with special spacers and a chro-moly U-bolt designed and manufactured specifically for that purpose. It is warrantied for life, as are all of our frame clamps.
Crashing
The 701 rally tower was one of our first designs after we first got involved in Dakar. Since 2015 this tower has received multiple updates both in design, materials and manufacturing methods. All the comprising parts have a very specific target: to protect your instruments and allow you to reach your destination safely. To that end, the tower may deform heavily (instead of breaking or cracking). The different materials (stainless steel, aluminum - two different alloys) and polymer will work in harmony in this assembly in order to make sure that you can reach your destination and take action there.
Let there be light!
Lights are one of the most important feautures of your bike. They can make a journey pure joy or then can turn it into a nightmare depending on the setup used. In Aurora we are firm believers in good quality lighting as they are key for your safety. We use OEM Hella lights for our default setup, with the High Beam being a fully legal LED headlight. Both units come straight from the KTM® 450 Rally Factory Replica.
The high beam can be upgraded to a Baja Designs® Squadron LED (Sport or Pro) at additional cost, for fully off-road riding. Having the choice between full off-road and fully legal lights allows you to customise the setup according to your needs. The KTM® original Stone Guard is a polycarbonate protector for your lights, and you can change it separately in case of damage. Furthermore, the indicator lights are hidden behind the screen, protecting the indicators in case of mild crashes. The RGB position light allows you to choose the color from seven different combinations using an integrated dip switch.

Screen bolts (x2 – the other 4 OEM ones are used from your own bike) with wellnuts (x6).
Navigation backplate.
Roadbook backplate holds one roadbook holder of your choice and two tripmasters. (extra at extra cost)
Dual GPS backplate comes with a backplate capable of housing two GPS units or one GPS and one tripmaster (std).
Side panels. Made of Glass Fiber. Pre drilled and painted. Carbon Fiber upon request (at extra cost)
CNC spider head clamp. Warrantied for life.

I like to combine rally and adventure travel. Thats why 701 with Rally Lite kit is perfect for me. I can attend biggest european Rally events with it or I can go on an epic trip to the remotest oasis of Tunisian Desert called Ain Ouadette! Epic, just epic!

I choose the Aurora set. It’s a little bit expensive but looks more solid in my opinion. But the main reason for me is that you can upgrade at a later stage with the add on tanks and you never know if you might need the extra range someday…

TURN INDICATORS IN USA
Due to different regulations in the US, the OEM front turn indicators are bigger and will not fit in the available space on the tower. It is advisable to buy a smaller LED set.
PARTS THAT NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO THE POINT BEYOND RETURN
We recommend to trim the side frame covers. To revert back to the OEM, you may purchase the OEM frame covers from Aurora.
You have to cut the rear part of the front mask of the bike to remove it if you don't want to detach the brake lines from the bike
